The Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning Program in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University is seeking two qualified candidates to teach in the Regional and Community Program. These are full-time, nine-month, tenure-track positions with annual review.

The Department:
Located in a multi-discipline college of design in a land grant institution, we value collaboration with others, service to our professions and communities, and stewardship of the natural environment. The Department's MRCP and MLA programs are recognized for their strong preparation of students for professional practice. We are assembling a new generation of faculty to lead our program, building upon our 52-year history. This is an exciting time of change as we make the transition to offering eleven semester non-baccalaureate graduate degrees, as well as post-baccalaureate degrees. Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include instruction in course areas that may include introductory courses in planning; planning theory and ethics; research and quantitative methods including demographic and economic projections in planning; basic land use planning; infrastructure planning and community development.
• Commitment to creative, effective teaching in the Department core curricula at the graduate level.
• Supervision of independent graduate research.
• Development of significant research and scholarly activities supportive of departmental goals and objectives.
• Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
• Collegial participation in departmental governance.

Qualifications:
Candidates for these positions should show promise of establishing a solid research and publication record in their area of specialization and also be qualified to teach core courses in the planning non-baccalaureate master degree program, the two year post- baccalaureate Master of Regional and Community Planning, and the interdisciplinary doctorate program in the College of Architecture, Planning & Design. Applicants must have completed, or have pending a Ph.D. in Planning and be qualified for membership on the KSU Graduate Faculty (www.k-state.edu/grad/gscurrent/handbook/chap5.htm). The department is especially interested in candidates dedicated to working in a multidisciplinary planning and design environment in addition to a strong commitment to community service and/or leadership in distance education.

Program Information:
The planning program offers the Master of Regional and Community Planning degree which may be obtained by enrollment in either the five year 150 credit hour non-baccalaureate program, or the two year 48 credit hour post-baccalaureate degree program. In addition, the department offers a 36 credit hour Master of Science in Community Development on-line distance education degree program through the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance, a consortium of five Midwestern universities including K-State University. The Master of Regional and Community Planning Degree is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board of the American Institute of Certified Planners through December 2015.
