building systems 101

I'm looking for a good primer on building systems (heat, hot water, envelope, etc). Does anyone know a user-friendly book that would give a broad overview of these topics? I'm thinking of something like Kate Ascher's "The Works" but for buildings. Thanks!

Building Construction Illustrated, by Francis Ching. This one is a classic. Not detailed in anyone area, but a great overview of building systems!
