Jane Jacobs Warns: Big Canadian Cities Risk Death

At a gathering of mayors, renowed urbanist Jane Jacobs warned Canada risks the death of its biggest five hub-cities.

"Canadian cities are stuggling for life, suffocated by provincial and federal governments that treat them like 'country bumpkin villages' says urban guru Jane Jacobs. 'Canada would become so poor it would qualify as part of the Third World,' the world-renowned urban thinker said in a speech here last night to open the two-day C5 Summit of the mayors of Canada's top five cities."
