Charlotte's City Council: Backseat Architects?

The architects' designs for the City's new arena are met with a resounding sigh from the city council.
Charlotte planners and architects, convened at the city's request in April, said Ellerbe Becket's first drawings depicted an arena that seemed to have little relationship to the neighborhood around it. On Monday, Cramton said Ellerbe Becket had first drawn an 'icon' building which would stick out in the Third Ward. Now, he said, the designs are more 'contextual.'" However, according to the city council, the designs are just 'uninspired'.
