A Look Through The Lens of Julius Shulman

'Visual Acoustics' is a new documentary about the 'vibrant' Mr. Shulman, the photographer of modernist homes who captured the ethos and energy of the Los Angeles modern architecture movement.
"As the film makes clear, Mr. Shulman wasn't simply an architectural photographer but a lifestyle propagandist.
"There's a sense of vibrancy in his photography," said [director Eric] Bricker, who was an architecture neophyte before a chance encounter with Mr. Shulman prompted him to make the film. "As Julius used to say, he was 'selling architecture.'""
