COMPATIBLE LAND USE PLANNER

Marstel-Day, LLC, an award-winning land use and conservation consulting company, seeks an experienced land use planner to support the company’s compatible land-use planning program. The company develops state, regional and local-level environmentally sustainable, conservation-oriented land use plans and partnerships that seek to both conserve and enhance natural resources and habitats, as well as to secure compatible land uses in the vicinity of military installations and ranges so that they may meet their operational, testing and training requirements.

Applicants should (1) possess a broad knowledge of federal, state and local land use planning and conservation practices and policies; (2) have strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills; (3) manifest the ability to communicate effectively in writing, graphic and oral presentations; (4) have significant experience in working successfully with a wide range of stakeholders in a variety of forums and undertakings; and, (5) demonstrate a proven ability to develop and support implementation of innovative land use and conservation initiatives within broad legislative and policy guidelines. Experience working with military officials in developing compatible land use planning programs, plans and partnerships is highly desirable.

The land use planner position would be based in Fredericksburg, VA, but assignments may require recurring travel to regions throughout the United States in support of Marstel-Day client project requirements. Salary is commensurate with experience and the applicant must be willing to move into a HUBZone qualifying census tract in the Fredericksburg environs.
