1 road. 27 alternatives. 100+ hours of data-gathering. “There has got to be a better way,” she said. Now Kristen gets her data in seconds. Read the rest of her story.

Kristen’s Nightmare Project
Kristen was working on what was supposed to be a simple alternative analysis for a new road. The project engineer drew 3 alternatives on a map. Kristen’s job was to complete a quantitative impact analysis of the 3 alternatives. Easy as pie, right?

By the end of the project, she had spent 10+ late nights, 100+ hours and 1,000s of dollars analyzing 27 different alternatives! By then, everyone was frustrated: Kristen, her GIS guru, her project manager, the project engineer, and the client. “There’s got to be a better way”
When working on her nightmare project, Kristen wanted to draw a line on a map for each alternative, and automatically get cut-and-paste ready data for her analysis based on her line. She needed a simple tool to get her data faster. So Kristen asked her programmer friend, Anthony, to help her build this technology for planners. They started Cubit Planning.

So far, 800+ planners have used Cubit Planning technology to pull more than 2,000 reports, saving 100s of hours, 1000s of dollars and untold headaches, frustrations and working relationships. Check out the website at: http://www.cubitplanning.com

The decision to abandon a property is a symptom of the loss of confidence. And while abandonment certainly affects confidence among surrounding homeowners, the most important question to answer is not "how do we deal with abandoned properties?" but "what is the most cost-effective way to restore market confidence, and how do abandoned properties fit into that picture?"
