Communities Fight Mobile Home Parks

Why do townships discourage mobile home parks with zoning ordinances?

From keeping out sewer lines which provide water -- the lifeblood for large developments -- to enacting laws that regulate where mobile home parks can be built, some Macomb communities have gone on the offensive. ...Many townships and villages fight mobile home development because yearly taxes from each unit are $36. Local police, fire and school services depend on taxes from residents and some officials believe mobile home owners do not pay their fair share. Under state law, mobile home owners do not have to pay property taxes for operating millages that support things like school construction. "
