Protecting Farmlands From Urban Sprawl

Wichita, KS, committee decides rules to protect agricultural land from urban sprawl. Critics say the rules are not strong enough to be effective.
The committee "proposes to increase the from 5 acres to 20. Smaller lots would be allowed if the developer agreed to conditions that promote efficient use of the land. The change is intended to help keep large tracts of agricultural land intact and promote more orderly housing development in rural areas..."
