MANUFACTURING BUSINESS LEADER TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS IN RENO
Executive Vice President of Global Operations for International Game Technology (IGT), Anthony Ciorciari, will deliver a keynote address on manufacturing and the role of technology in the gaming industry on Tuesday, October 6. Fitting given the conference’s location in Reno and the prominence of technology in today’s economic development environment, IGT develops and manufactures products for casino-style gaming. Ciorciari is responsible for worldwide manufacturing, procurement, corporate facilities, and customer services for IGT. He also serves on the board of the Economic Development Authority for Western Nevada (EDAWN).

HEAD OF PREMIERE REGIONAL ENERGY PROVIDER HIGHLIGHTS DEFINING ISSUES LUNCHEON
This year’s Defining Issues Lunch will be headlined by Michael Yackira, President & Chief Executive Officer of NV Energy. Mr. Yackira will address the potential economic impacts of his firm’s three-part energy strategy, which emphasizes efficiency and conservation, the development of new renewable energy resources, and the addition of the cleanest, most energy efficient new facilities fueled with traditional fossil fuels. NV Energy currently provides electricity to 2.4 million electric citizens throughout Nevada and California, as well as a state tourist population of 40 million annually.

2009 LEADERSHIP AWARD FOR PUBLIC SERVICE ADDRESSES ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Oscar Goodman, Mayor of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada has received the 2009 Leadership Award for Public Service by IEDC. Touching on the conference theme on how communities need to build on their already existing resources to flourish in today’s challenging economy; Mayor Goodman will speak about the lessons learned over the three terms in office on urban renewal, economic diversification and other key topics. One of his major accomplishments has been dedicated to converting downtown Las Vegas from a casino-dominated one-trick pony into a diversified economy.
