9 July 2009 - 10:00am
A central component of the Pickens' Plan for freedom from foreign oil was the creation of the world's largest wind farm in Texas. This week, T. Boone announced that he won't be building it after all.
Pickens instead plans to build smaller wind farms across the Midwest, stating that in addition to financing issues the enormous Texas wind farm faced transmission issues.

Texas plans to build about $5 billion worth of transmission lines to help carry the wind from the western part of the state, but they will not go where Mr. Pickens had hoped. Originally, he had even planned to build his own transmission lines."
