Economist Debates: Sustanianable Development

The magazine "The Economist" is running an on-line debate that focuses on sustainable development. The debate is located here.

David G. Victor, the motion's proponent, writes "Sustainable development is a beautiful-sounding idea that has become intellectually bankrupt and should be abandoned."
Based on what I have read, the debate lacks a clear definition of what sustainable development really means. Now that I have "poisoned the well", I would encourage everyone to weigh-in on this debate with the appropriate admonition that you make up your own mind based on what the debaters have stated and not my comment.
