Russia Plans Bridge to Nowhere

The Russian government is building a 2-mile bridge from Vladivostok to a tiny island in preparation for the 2012 Asia Pacific Economic Summit. Many in the country say the $1 billion plan is a waste of money and a bridge to nowhere.

The bridge will be the world's longest suspension bridge The government hopes the bridge will enable more development and tourism opportunities on the small island, but many residents say the development is unwanted.

This video from the New York Times looks at the plans and the local reaction.

Bridge to Nowhere

These Russians and frmer VPcandidate Palin ought to get together.
They speak the same bureaucratize.
Maybe they could build a bridge from Alaska to Russia.
Yeah.
Like we need a bridge from California to Hawaii.
Just put up a few of those x25x 50 cent a view binocular viewers so Palin can watch Russia and obtain more foreign policy experience for the 2012 election.
Better yet, just buy her and each of the Russian bureaucrats a nice pair of $2,000 Zeiss binoculars and turn'em loose.
Save a billion. :-))
