Choosing between two masters programs

Hello all,

This is my first post on Planetizen, and I apologize if the topic is better suited to "What I Wish I Knew Before Graduate School"; I was recently admitted into two masters of urban planning (city and regional planning) and am looking for some insight as to which to choose.

The schools in question are University of Washington and Ohio State. I live and work in Seattle, but my family lives in Columbus. I am perfectly happy to go to school in the midwest for a few years, but I plan on returning to the west coast for work, either in the Seattle or San Fran region. In graduate school I will focus on environmental planning with a secondary emphasis on transit. My undergraduate education was in International Political Economy and I am always looking for international opprotunities. Does anyone have insight to either of these schools? I am trying to assess each program clinically to choose the right fit, and would greatly appreciate any and all insight.

Thanks in advance for your help! I appreciate it.

RE: Choosing between two masters programs

Hi, I'm currently a first year student in UW's program. I'd be happy to talk to you about the program from a student's perspective.

The program currently has many international study opportunities, is deeply embedded in the regional planning community, and does act as a feeder school for the region.

Cheers,
Chris

But what can planners do to support the kind of connections between people I just described? One idea is promoting mixed-use places where there are simply more opportunities for people to run into each other and connect.
