City Officials Favor 'Stupid Growth'
1 April 2009 - 8:00am
Officials in Shelbyville, Kentucky are officially adopting a citywide "Stupid Growth" policy. The city plans to release the new Shelbyville Stupid Growth General Plan, which emphasizes "building whatever."
Shelbyville Planning Director Helen Yang calls the move the obvious choice for the city.
"Let's face it: I'm pretty stupid, our mayor is an idiot, and the vast majority of our residents test at or below a fourth grade level. 'Smart Growth' is ideologically incompatible with our community makeup," she said.
Development in the city will now largely be guided by whim, drunken impulses, and the city's long-held motto: "git 'er done."
