Conserving In California
19 April 2001 - 10:00am
Faced with a serious energy crises, Californians are learning to conserve.
"The limited water supply...is an issue that constantly influences, but rarely halts, housing and commercial development in parts of California, particularly its desert areas east of Los Angeles...Yet even though it is not wasteful, California still needs an enormous amount of energy because of its size. And as its population keeps growing, consumption keeps rising... The average size of new homes here, as in much of the country, is getting bigger. Thus, they require more energy to heat and cool."
