Gilmore Praises VDOT Reforms

Governor vows $130 million in yearly savings as a result of the agencies reforms.
"These long-overdue reforms signal a new era at VDOT and a new way of doing business for Virginia's transportation system," Gilmore said. "The bottom line is these changes will save Virginia taxpayers millions, help build roads faster and more safely, and protect the environment." The changes, he said, stem from recommendations of the Governor's Commission on Transportation Policy and are part of his "Innovative Progress" package for transportation.
