Chicago Rewrites Its Zoning Code

The city's zoning code had not be rewritten in 44 years. But rewriting it certainly isn't easy.

"Although that process is underway, aldermen involved in the rewrite ordered by Mayor Richard M. Daley say the final result is at least 18 months away, and not likely to be the panacea many of the city’s 418 registered community groups may have been seeking." A more realistic zoning map is likely to be one of the major outcomes of the process.
