Census 2000: U.S. Adds 33 Million

During the 1990s the U.S. saw its largest population increase in 10 years.
"In 2000, the U.S. population was 281.4 million, a 32.7-million increase over 1990the largest ten-year population growth ever recorded in the United States. The previous record for a census increase was the 28-million jump between 1950 and 1960, part of the post-World War II Baby Boom... As it has for the past half-century, the West leads the United States in population growth. "
