Beautiful Billboards

Columbia, South Carolina is using unsold billboards to display public art.
"In Columbia, South Carolina, an unsold billboard is not an eyesore--it's a work of art. Since 1997, the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties has teamed up with the Lamar billboard company to display public art on blank billboards in the area. The Cultural Council has recently selected six new billboard designs, out of 90 entries, which will be rotated around the city for the next 18 months when blank spots open up."
