Controlling Rocky Mountain Sprawl

Legislators are battling over the state's new growth control bill, which may or may not require regional planning.

"Deep political rifts are defining the battle over sprawl control, with only a month left for lawmakers to fashion significant compromises. Legislators are still far apart on whether to require regional planning, how far to extend city and county growth boundaries, how to limit sprawl in rural areas, how much authority cities should have over new projects and other issues." Environmentalists are watching closely after a statewide ballot measure failed to pass in November.
