Professor Vincent Scully discusses the fundamentals of New Urbanism and architecture -- and its impact on the built environment.
Americans are rethinking their cities, and the New Urbanist movement is at the core of this movement. "Prof. Vincent Scully, an architecture historian at Yale University, is a pioneer in the movement. He traces the origins of New Urbanism to the New England town and shows that the traditional 2-1/2-story high-gabled houses of a town like New Haven helped create livable communities." He discusses the basic principles of New Urbanism, successful examples of New Urbanism, and the future of the skyscraper.
