Fort Lauderdale To Revitalize City's Poorest Section
30 March 2001 - 9:00am
After a decade of debate on how to revitalize Fort Lauderdale's northwest area, city leaders agreed this week to pay for a $45 million, five-year project aimed at revitalizing the City's poorest section.
"The City will combine city and county funds, federal grants, bank loans and financing methods such as tax increment financing to create a pool of money to renovate buildings, buy vacant lots and develop them, build single family homes, and improve sidewalks, landscaping, infrastructure and lighting."
