Energy Plant Or Quality Of Life?

California's energy crisis creates some strange bedfellows in support of the Metcalf Energy Center near San Jose, California.

"The Metcalf project, in south San Jose's rural Coyote Valley, would provide enough electricity for a community of 600,000 people. But with the proposal comes an emotional battle with unlikely bedfellows on either side: on one side are local environmentalists, and statewide outrage over the energy crisis; on the other is an alliance of Cisco Systems, which has tremendous influence in San Jose, and a well-organized neighborhood group."
