Builders and architects are not doing a good job of selling smart growth strategies.

A forum titled "Showdown in Seattle" unveils the surprising fact that developers and environmentalists do agree on the most basic of development principles."...even as most Americans and their local governments agree that urban sprawl must be suppressed, groups across the country are having trouble selling the 'smart growth' idea to their own neighbors. According to the incoming president of the National Association of Home Builders, that's because builders and architects are not doing a good job of convincing people that smart-growth strategies, meaning high-density projects, can be desirable and good."
