Some commentators attack supporters of transit for being "anti-auto" -- but their real agenda is to force Americans to drive or die.

Anti-transit pundits fantasize about a vast "anti-auto" conspiracy to force Americans out of their cars. But in fact, transit opponents are the real would-be dictators: they "wish to create an absolute dictatorship of the automobile, a society where government, by providing roads everywhere and transit nowhere, makes it impossible to live without a car."
