Urban Planning Internships

I have a background in residential sales and valuation and BA in Political Science/Minor: Sociology. I am very committed to studying and learning more about the creation of corridor studies, sustainable development,community connectivity, downtown revitalization, the formulation of transit oriented developments, along with other components related to urban planning. I would like to try to use my previous residential skill set to try to obtain a planning internship, willing to travel for said opportunity as I understand they are rare!

I appreciate any advice one has on the issue.
