New Jersey Commission Approves New State Plan

The updated State Development and Redevelopment Plan is intended to curb suburban sprawl and rebuild cities.
The New Jersey State Planning Commission early in March approved a new blueprint for smart growth, superseding the state's 1992 development and redevelopment plan. The state plan contains eight goals and 19 policy areas, which provide guidance for state and local planning initiatives. Among the goals: revitalize the state's cities and towns, conserve the state's natural resources and systems, provide adequate housing at reasonable cost, and ensure sound and integrated planning and implementation statewide.
