Compensation: $84,676.80 - $118,456.00 annually, including a generous benefits package

The City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) deals with issues that affect the quality of life in general, including transportation, air quality, stormwater runoff, hazardous waste, solid waste and recycling, land use near airports, and abandoned vehicle abatement. C/CAG provides a unique forum for the cities and the County to work together on common issues to develop cost-effective solutions. The Board consists of 21 members with one from each city (20) and the County.

The Transportation Programs/Projects Manager, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and coordinating activities, programs and projects related to the County's Congestion Management Program. This position also makes policy recommendations on countywide transportation issues to the Board of Directors and committees of the C/CAG, which is also the Congestion Management Agency (CMA) for San Mateo County.

Responsibilities include: project management; program management; directing, managing and monitoring the work of consultants and serving as a liaison for C/CAG, involving contract negotiation and contract management; representing the County and C/CAG in meetings and interactions with the regional planning agency, the State Department of Transportation, and Bay Area congestion management agencies, transportation agencies and the cities in San Mateo County; interpreting and implementing rules and regulations; providing highly complex staff assistance to senior level management; participating in the development and implementation of program goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities; maintaining an effective working relationship with a variety of public and private organizations, including other County departments, agencies, and the twenty cities in San Mateo County; assist in advocating for funding to support comprehensive transportation programs; advising Legislators of the official position on legislation taken by C/CAG and maintaining liaison with officials in the Legislative and other governmental jurisdictions to further the interests of C/CAG in such matters.

Past experience in project management for ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) projects is a plus. This may include practical working experience or project management oversight experience in traffic operations, incident management, signal operations, ITS system engineering, integration, and deployment.

A typical way to qualify is three years of increasingly responsible managerial experience preferably in the transportation field. A degree in Transportation Planning or Civil Engineering or Public Administration or related field is ideal.
