A study by the Chicago Metropolis 2020 finds that the Chicago area economy may suffer due to traffic congestion, poor education, and inadequate affordable housing

"The Chicago area runs the risk of falling behind in the world economy, said a new report on life in the six-county metropolitan area. According to the report, that's not because of business conditions but because of daily aggravations: Traffic congestion is brutal, too many children get a poor education and affordable housing is scarce, especially within job-rich communities. Chicago Metropolis 2020, an organization...backed by a premier business group, the Commercial Club of Chicago [released the] study, 'Regional Realities: Measuring Progress Toward Shared Regional Goals,' [that] identifies and assesses progress in key areas of community life."
