Sprawl Index: Cities Ranked By Sprawl

USA Today publishes its "Sprawl Index" of 271 metro areas and a seven-page feature on the impact of sprawl on America.
USA Today has published an unusually extensive report on Sprawl in America. Ocala, Florida is ranked as the city with the worst sprawl, followed by San Luis Obispo, California. All 271 metro areas across the USA are evaluated using two measures of population density for each metro area, and the methodology is explained in detail. The feature-lenth report also includes an in-depth story and two videos about the impacts of urban sprawl on communities across the United States.
