Washington County Seeks Slow Growth

King County's slow-growth measure would prohibit new urban buildings in rural areas.
"Large public and private schools and churches could not be built in King County's [Washington] rural area for much of the coming year under a slow-growth measure approved yesterday by the King County Council.The temporary moratorium, the most significant and politically charged change within recent modifications of King County's Comprehensive Plan, could be circumvented only by special action by the council."
