Seattle Light Rail Project Cost Increases

After intense discussion, light-rail in Seattle will serve the Southcenter Mall, increasing costs.
"The Sound Transit board yesterday agreed to pursue a longer and more expensive route for the part of its planned light-rail system in Tukwila. The decision could add $40 million to the cost of Link light rail, which already is $1.2 billion over its $2.4 billion original budget -- partly because of route changes that, like the one endorsed yesterday, were made to appease local governments and other critics."
