City Rail Crossing Curbs Are Rejected

Judge overturns Seattle's efforts to restrict freight train activity.
"In a move that could worsen traffic congestion, an appeals court has thrown out Seattle's limits on the hours and length of time that freight trains at crossings can block streets. State Court of Appeals Judge Kenneth Grosse ruled that federal law prevents the city from enforcing its ban on freight-car switching during rush hours and its four-minute limit on trains blocking city streets."
