Sprawl, Farmers Clash

As rapid development explodes across Washtenaw County, MI, residents are fighting back.

"Washtenaw County's open spaces, proximity to freeways and good schools make the area attractive to builders and home buyers...Townships are battling builders in court, farmers are signing 'no-development' agreements with the state and cities are buying land to keep their natural resources intact...[b]ut developers win most of the battles..."
