Florida Takes In 15-year Old Trash

Trash ash loaded on a ship in Philadelphia for disposal in 1986 and rejected by ports around the world might be coming ashore in Florida.
"Incinerator ash shunned in ports aroundthe world for 15 years might come ashore in Florida. State Environmental officials have given Waste Management Inc. the OK to truck the ash to a Pompano Beach incinerator, saying tests show the ash is not hazardous. The ash is to be burned and then disposed of ina landfill. But Broward County officials, like many before them around the world, don't want it dumped in their backyard. "
