Advance Planning Officer
Under the direction of the Planning Bureau Manager, the Advance Planning Officer is a management position responsible for long-range planning efforts of the City, including a current effort to update the City’s General Plan. Position requires technical training, experience in the planning industry and effective leadership skills. With at least five years of responsible supervisory experience, candidate shall have strong technical skills in all areas of current and advance urban planning, development and maintenance of a General Plan, and management of community outreach efforts; Urban Planning, Architecture, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely-related degree required. A Master’s degree in any of the above fields may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Also, excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of principles and practices of local government administration, customer service, team building and leadership, and process improvement experience are a must.
