Realtors Like Martinez At HUD
The National Association of Realtors endorses the selection of MelMartinez as the new HUD Secretary.
The National Association of Realtors endorsed the selection of MelMartinezas the new Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in PresidentGeorge W.Bush's administration. According to the NAR, in his former positions inFlorida, "Martinez successfully advocated difficult policies andinitiativespromoting affordable homeownership and rental opportunities for allAmericans." The group believes Martinez's local government experienceprepared him to grasp the nuances of HUD and the role the federalhousingbudget and policy play in the lives of local residents and communities.Martinez was confirmed as HUD Secretary together with two other cabinetmember by a single vote of 100 to 0 in the U.S. Senate.
