WRT’s San Francisco office is seeking a planning professional with substantial experience preparing and managing specific plans, corridor plans, neighborhood plans, and redevelopment plans. The ideal candidate will have a broad planning background that could also include work on general plans, form-based codes, design guidelines, parks and open space plans, environmental documents, etc. The planner must have the ability to work independently on concurrent projects as well as prior experience managing complex and interdisciplinary planning efforts. The position is primarily oriented toward policy-based planning, however competence in physical planning, geospatial analysis, and urban design will be fundamental to all projects. Design training, effective graphic and oral communication skills, and experience working with design teams are all highly desirable, though strong writing and editing skills are essential.

The position requires a combination of the following:

Master’s degree in city, urban or regional planning or a related field is preferred
3 – 8 years of experience in the field of city, urban or regional planning (consulting experience preferred)
Experience managing specific plan projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ESRI ArcGIS 9.x (ArcMap and ArcCatalog required/Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst preferred), and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)

Duties may include plan and ordinance writing; land use, demographic, economic, and environmental policy research; spatial and non-spatial data collection and analysis; graphic communication; public meeting facilitation; project management; proposal preparation; etc.
