Planning Director

Envision Utah seeks an experienced regional planner to lead our planning group. Located in Salt Lake City, Envision Utah is a nonprofit public/private partnership that pioneered the techniques of regional visioning and promotes a publicly developed Quality Growth Strategy. Envision Utah has earned the nation’s top planning awards and its innovative grassroots approach is being emulated successfully by regions throughout the country. (www.envisionutah.org)

Successful candidates must be self-motivated, have regional planning experience, possess exceptional writing, presentation and management skills, hold a master’s degree in planning or related field, and have 5 years of relevant work experience.

Successful candidate will:
•Provide training, direction and leadership to our talented planning team
•Facilitate public meetings and make frequent presentations
•Oversee scenarios-based regional visioning processes in Utah and other states
•Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, including development feasibility, GIS and mapping
•Write and edit reports and public communication vehicles
•Coordinate policy and planning with elected officials and other community leaders
•Prepare and track project proposals and budgets

Desired Skills
•Arc GIS 9 or above
•Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
•Urban design knowledge and background (visualization program skills strongly desired)
