Summary
Performs a variety of technical and professional work in the long range planning division of the Bellevue Transportation Department.
Manages complex and/or highly sensitive projects in transportation planning, growth management, and public policy. Provides high level technical expertise in a transportation planning. Administers the preparation of planning work program components, plans and studies.
Provides strategic thinking to develop ideas and work programs that advance major City initiatives. Influences and persuades others in accomplishing goals. Explains often complicated issues to a variety of stakeholders, including elected and appointed officials in highly charged public settings.
Education
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in urban planning, engineering, public administration, environmental studies, transportation or a closely related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
Minimum: 5 years of experience in transportation planning, and demonstration of a comprehensive knowledge of planning principles, practices, and techniques as they relate to transportation planning, comprehensive or subarea planning, and growth management. Included in the five years experience must be at least two years of project management experience.
American Institute of Certified Planners certification preferred.
