Transportation Planner II or III/Public Outreach

The Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization (D/KC MPO) seeks a qualified transportation planner for a public outreach position. The D/KC MPO is the designated MPO for Dover and Kent County and those portions of Sussex and New Castle County within the towns of Milford and Smyrna. Experience or familiarity with MPO processes desired.

The position will be filled at either the Transportation Planner II or III level depending on the applicant’s experience. Starting salary will depend on the applicant’s experience and qualifications.

The position requires general transportation planning and project management duties. Public outreach and PAC liaison duties include providing staff support to the Public Advisory Committee; work with MPO Council members to expedite PAC appointments; conduct an annual assessment of the MPO’s Public Participation Plan; prepare an annual Environmental Justice report; present reports at meetings as required; conduct educational outreach to citizens and public officials; participate in outreach activities as required including air quality outreach activities; oversee the MPO website and development of all outreach materials; attend all daytime and evening PAC meetings.

At a minimum the ideal candidate shall have a four-year college or university degree in a related field and three years of recent transportation planning experience. Additional experience may be substituted for part of the education requirement at the discretion of the Executive Director. The applicant must be eligible to work in the United States.
