Research Associate
The Center for Housing Policy is seeking a research associate to work on innovative research and policy development focused on (a) strengthening state and local housing policies and (b) documenting the impact that affordable housing plays on such key societal outcomes as good health, improved education, and economic development.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Researching and synthesizing information on promising state and local housing policies to increase the availability of housing affordable to working families.
• Developing new and updating existing material for HousingPolicy.org, a new online guide to state and local housing policy for local leaders.
• Designing and executing analytic projects that can help quantify the costs and benefits of different approaches to providing affordable housing.
• Conducting research on the impact of affordable housing on such key societal outcomes as good health, improved education, and economic development.
• Supporting the Center’s work with state and local leaders on the adoption of promising practices.
• Providing administrative support for research and policy dialogues as well as other activities in service of the Center’s mission.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to and interest in issues related to affordable housing.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Ability to synthesize complicated material into more accessible summaries.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize duties and work independently while functioning as a member of a team.
• An efficient and organized work style.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communications and analytical skills.
• Solid administrative skills, including strong computer skills, Microsoft Word proficiency and familiarity with email (Outlook), Internet and spreadsheet programs (Excel). Experience with web design a plus.
• Willingness to travel on occasion.
Starting salary in the low 40s, depending upon experience.
