Experienced Land Planner for Global Practice
Highly Influential Firm Expands Planning Practice

It is fair to say that this firm is one of the most significant design practices in the U.S. today. Small, but focused, the firm is a thought leader in every sense of the word. With sustainability as the core of everything it does, this practice leads the way for many other firms as they consider how to base design decisions on the interdependence of humanity and nature, trying to eliminate the concept of waste.

Based on the east coast, this firm practices around the globe. Sought for their expertise in sustainability, the client base is extremely diverse. Increasingly, municipalities, corporations and developers recognize that the principles of sustainability can be applied to a larger context than a single building. As a result, the leader of the Community Planning studio wants to expand the practice with a senior land planner who has practiced in the private sector. It goes without saying that this individual must have a philosophical orientation toward sustainability. But the right candidate will also have the overall leadership skills to execute projects relatively independently, contribute design ideas to sustain the level of quality clients expect with this firm and help grow the practice. This position requires an individual who can engage clients in explorations that respectfully challenge their understanding of appropriate solutions and communicate planning solutions in a clear and compelling way, forming a relationship of “trusted advisor”.

Successful candidates will have at least a bachelors degree in architecture, planning or landscape architecture. The responsibilities of the position require than 8 - 12 years of experience in the design and first phase construction of master planned communities of significant scale and design innovation, bringing to assignments the basic principals of new urbanism and transit oriented development in addition to a primary focus on sustainability. The ability to represent planning concepts graphically is essential. A portfolio of built projects should illustrate exceptional planning and design skills. Demonstration of a polished presence in conversation skills is essential since this firm requires its senior professionals to move comfortably in a wide range of organizational circles. Candidates who can meet these criteria will have the opportunity to be considered for a truly enviable position working around the globe in a practice where there are no boundaries and the primary expectation is innovation.
