Not Allowed to Go Green in Public Housing
She took a strong dislike to me from the beginning and has tried to get rid of my family since before we moved in but couldn't come up with a reason not to allow us into the unit in the first place. Since then she has tried to run me off by not allowing me to do things that my neighbors are allowed to do.
Example 1: My neighbors have yards full of bikes, toys, swings etc. but I was told to remove my childrens toys which I put in my living room and got rid of my couch, chairs, and coffee table to make room.
Example 2: My oldest daughter needed to start and maintain a compost pile for a school class but was told that composting was not allowed at this housing unit. She received a failing grade for this project. (Her major in college is forestry and conservation and this was an important class for her future career goals as a park ranger).
Example 3: Last summer, for the first time since moving to public housing, i started a small container garden. I thought this would be okay as I could bring it indoors, place it on the porch or otherwise move the "garden" out of the way whenever they mow the yards. My recycled containers where first attacked, they were tacky looking, (instead of buying containers I use egg buckets from a resturant). When I painted and decorated the containers I was then informed that I needed to buy "real plant containers" as recycled containers were only permitted if I bought them, not made them. (I feel that she was trying to make me spend all my money in an effort to make it "not worth my while" to stay).
When I replaced the containers with store bought ones (took a weeks salary to purchase)I was then told that plants were not permitted on the property. Since the man two units up from me had a large garden in both the front and back including some bushes that had been planted over 10 years ago he was informed that because of me he would have to get rid of his garden or else they would do it for him and charge him for it. (He still has it 6 monthes later)
Example 4: I have been told on a monthly basis that all my neighbors complain on me and my family for being too loud. And I've also been told that my boyfriend lives with me. I've had to use money that I really need in order to purchase a security camera and a dvd recorder in order to record 24 hours a day the fact that my boyfriend (father of three youngest children ages 12, 7, and 3) is only at my house to babysit when I'm at work. (He'd be there more but landlady won't allow it)He wants to move in but the landlady said she doesn't want his type around ( he's only been arrested once, failure to appear on fishing without a license charge), served in the army for 4 years (recalled for Desert Storm) and has worked at the same job for 18 years (only left long enough for Desert Storm recall).
Example 5: When I first moved into this unit I worked over 60 hours a week but cut down to 40 after DCS workers said I needed to cut my hours to be with kids more (landlady did NOT lower my rent which is based on income). Landlady then called DCS and informed them that I worked too much to properly clean my house, my hours were then lowered to 18 - 20 hours a week (rent payments still remained the same).
Example 6: Neighbors are now complaining that they are beginning to see her acting toward them the way she has been acting toward me all along. On even said that they think she thinks she is a dictator of her own little country.
All I need is a list of rules and regulations regarding recycling, gardening, and outdoor toys for public housing. She's like the grinch of recycling. I have tried looking it up on the internet but all that legal talk just confuses me. could somebody tell me where i can get pamplets with rules listing what is required of a public housing landlord, hopefully something that will cause her to put the clotheslines back up.
