Nevada: A Future Atomic Wastebasket?

Residents fear that Yucca Mountain, in western Nevada, will become the burial ground for nuclear waste.
Foes of the plan believe that the President-elect favors Nevada as the final resting place for the growing stockpile of nuclear waste. State politicians from both parties oppose the plan. They believe that the mountain is too porous to shield the waste.
