Senior Urban Designer
The Planning Center seeks an experienced, creative, hands-on Urban Designer to join our Community Planning & Design Team. We are looking for someone who is committed to developing innovative solutions through collaboration with other team members, including architects, planners, economists, environmental planners and other specialists.
The ideal candidate will have more than seven years of progressively responsible experience as the lead designer in a variety of suburban and urban projects. We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating better places, as well as versatile in design philosophy when responding to the strategic needs of a client.
Requires a bachelor's degree in a design discipline (Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture). Master’s degree preferred. Requires direct hands on experience preparing urban design master plans, design guidelines, revitalization plans, and streetscape plans. Responsibilities include: drawing and creation of large and small-scale concept plans, site plans, and architectural massing studies; leading public workshops and design charrettes; participating in cutting edge research; and providing senior-level project management, with responsibility for supervising and mentoring other design and planning professionals. Candidates should have a working knowledge of 3D modeling programs, InDesign, and CAD. This position offers future advancement opportunity into a senior level leadership role in the company.
Successful candidates must be adept with marketing efforts, including writing proposals, presenting at interviews, and other forms of public speaking. Some business travel may be required.
