California's Land Use Stories Of The Year
The sudden end to a hot housing market and planners' response to climate change were the top land use stories of 2007, according to California Planning & Development Report.
Those were far from the only significant land use stories in the Golden State, however. There were also huge firestorms that caused people to start rethinking growth patterns, and new legislation intended to decrease development in flood-prone areas.
"Some of these stories have been around in various forms for many years, while others are only now coming to the fore. Some are stories of statewide and even national significance. Others are important regionally or locally. We think it’s an interesting mix, and we’re willing to bet that all of these stories will continue to evolve during 2008."
