Soaring housing prices are driving the middle class out of the Bay Area; experts and economists warn that the crisis could spread to other parts of California.
"One casualty is the middle class. More Bay Area families are moving into smaller quarters or settling in far-flung suburbs, guaranteeing themselves a brutal commute...Many housing experts and economists say what's unfolding in the Bay Area willspread south unless metropolitan California builds more affordable housing."
