Friday Funny: How Real Estate Deals Work In LA
A Los Angeles City Planning Department employee accidentally leaves a message intended for the developer on the answering machine of a project opponent: The project will be approved "no matter what."
From the LA Times report:
"Van Nuys resident Marcelle Duncan told council members that ... a Planning Department staffer, mistakenly left the message weeks ago on her answering machine, thinking he had reached the developer" of a proposed 78-unit condominium project
"You will have the council office's support and our support," he said on the tape. "You'll win the appeal no matter what, OK?"
The project was approved, as the planner promised.
